Planting instructions: Choose a sunny spot. Bearded iris prefer well draining soil and they like to be planted in before the coldest weeks of fall set in. Plant bearded iris rhizomes shallowly. The crown should be visible at the soil surface. Cover with mulch for extra protection in climates with severe winters. Remove the mulch from the crown of the plant in the spring.
